Since 2018, Disc Brakes Australia has been part of GUD, owner of a portfolio of companies mainly in the automotive aftermarket industry.
GUD held its 2022 GUD Excellence Awards at the Royal Automobile Club of Victoria in Melbourne on 18 November. Over 100 GUD family members attended the awards ceremony, including senior management from the US, New Zealand and across the multiple States of Australia.
The Awards recognise and celebrate outstanding contributions by an individual, team or business in the areas of Safety and Innovation. This year, Sustainability was added to the Awards categories - the inclusion being representative of the increased value placed on businesses playing their part in protecting the environment.
A record 91 award nominations were initially submitted to the judging panel, nearly double that of the previous year.
DBA’s first submission included a piece on efficiency improvement in the re-boxing of customer product returns, while the second showcased DBA’s successful collaboration with the University of NSW in the area of thermodynamic simulations in brake rotor development. Both DBA submissions successfully progressed to finalist stage, where contenders then had to submit their final bids in form of a 90-second video clip, thereby not only demonstrating their ability to innovate, but also challenging the Marketing teams on their videographic skillset.
The night did not end in disappointment for DBA, who took home the accolade of ‘Finalist’ in the Partnership category, and 1st prize winner in the Process category. Congratulations to all DBA staff involved in achieving this outstanding result!
